Introducing Timed Research

In the post where I detailed the Today View for Pokémon Go, I noted that it was noted that there may be a few things that could be added to the feature, and indeed there was something recently added to expand that feature. That feature is something that I would like to discuss in this post. By its title, that feature is called Timed Research. It may not actually be considered a significant feature addition, but it holds the key for a few significant things later on, so it helps to flesh it out as much as possible right now.

The not-quite significant part of the feature addition is that it is essentially a Special Research, but instead of being placed in a card on the Special Research tab, it is placed in a card on the Today View tab; the evidence for this is that tasks that keep track of progression show a purple instead of cyan progress bar. The quite significant part is that this has a time limit, unlike regular Special Research sets that one can complete whenever it is convenient after obtaining the set. If one fails to complete the Special Research within the time limit, it's gone and done. Therefore, the new addition with this is a sense of urgency.

At present, there is a Timed Research set with 9 pages, and the deadline for completing the tasks on these pages is this Friday at 1 PM, wherever and whenever that may be. At that point, there will be another Timed Research set with similar objectives and a similar deadline. However, with the current set having been present since last Friday at 1 PM, those who have played since then should have known about it and made at the least some good headway. There is still around 2 to 3 days to complete this set, which should be imperative for those seeking its rewards.

The rewards for a Timed Research are not that much different from a Special Research, but the Pokémon rewards may be more lucrative. In fact, it is supposed to get even more lucrative as the end of the month approaches... but I'm getting ahead of myself - more on this much later. For now, the focus is on completing this set of Timed Research. A tip that I can give right now is to really make use of the given resources and complete as many tasks and pages as possible within a single play session, and once things are home free, to complete the entire shebang. Again, urgency is of the utmost importance.

This new addition to the already-new Today View isn't one that agglomerates or summarizes things to make them more succinct. Instead, it does so in order to make things more urgent and pressing, even challenging. The challenge remains the same as with a regular Special Research, except with added urgency due to the time limit. With that being considered, it is rather significant in a way, perhaps just as significant as the entire Today View in general.
