Along with Legends: Z-A that is due next month - or rather, in a few weeks - the next hit Pokémon game may be something a little different that a certain segment of fans of the franchise has been desiring. They likely will have played similar games being offered by others, including by Nintendo itself, but soon (as in next year when it is released) they can enjoy an actual Pokémon offering that might just promise to be as exciting as those other offerings. For that, they'll congregate themselves in a secluded yet wonderful place for all its happenings.
The new game is called Pokémon Pokopia, and it is billed as a "life simulation game", in a way similar to that of Nintendo's own Animal Crossing. It was revealed just a couple of weeks ago along with the "final trailer" for the Legends: Z-A game, and its side-by-side preview along with that game suggests that it'll keep Pokémon fans busy over the course of the next year while and after Legends: Z-A gets going.
In this game, the player plays as a Ditto who transforms itself into a human form. Though human in appearance, the Pokémon is still able to use moves just like other Pokémon... and it'll have to do that, by interacting with other Pokémon to learn their moves and then use them. They'll shape the land, build structures, grow plants, and make the area a comfortable one for living with fellow Pokémon as they become present.
What is interesting is that the other Pokémon will interact with the player character in human language, in similar ways as the Mystery Dungeon game series. Yet that is understandable, for the player character is a Pokémon itself and therefore can understand others of its kind. The initial setting and premise might also seem a little "dystopic", but in accordance with the title of this game, a kind of "utopia" is promised for those who play.
Many gamers will surely be familiar with life simulation games, even without a particular Pokémon offering. This particular new game will bring just that for the most dedicated fans of the franchise, and yet certainly others are welcome to it as well. And when it comes time for its release, they'll know exactly where to meet and bring the land to life.
