The new season for Pokémon Go is called, appropriately enough, the Season of Go. A part of that implies that there will be something to do with Pokémon Go Fest, and there will be, in fact. In the next three months of the season, there will be a run - or, as described in the title, a marathon - of Pokémon Go Fest events, including the returns of old ways and new ways. And they're all incoming and have been indicated as such even before the season began, so it is necessary to discuss them at the earliest opportunity as this new season starts off.
Of these, the first Pokémon Go Fest event is the return of "new ways", in the form of a global for-everyone edition of the event as with the previous two years. One thing that's different about it, as hinted at the start of this season, is that it does not take place next month as in past years, but this month - this weekend, in fact. On Saturday and Sunday, there will be all the usual themed zones, Global Challenges, and catching Pokémon to complete various tasks and earn very neat rewards. Those who haven't purchased a ticket by now can also hope to obtain one as a gift in the same way as the paid Special Research from the previous Community Day in addition to just buying it outright - and soon, as it's just a couple of days before the event.
Going through this season, there is the return of "old ways", in the form of regional Pokémon Go Fest events in the next two months of this season. As with previous years, the events will occur in three focus areas: North America (Seattle), Europe (Berlin), and Asia (Sapporo), with the first two in July and the last in early August. This marks the first time that these editions have returned since three years ago, before everything unraveled the very next year. With their return, they have also promised bigger experiences, so Trainers in those cities and regions may very well want to consider spending the money for the tickets and attending them.
In past years, the events have always resulted in what are called "Ultra Unlocks", and this time, they're not much different: the global event and the three regional events will have theirs, which if fulfilled will "upgrade" a certain event to an "Ultra" version, which remains to be seen. Further, in August, there will be a special "finale" event for those who purchase the global event ticket and needless to say participate in the event. Yet that is for much later, and the upcoming global event this weekend is at hand, followed by the regional ones next month.
Evidently, this is the biggest reason that the season is, indeed, called the Season of Go. An array of Pokémon Go Fest events has been set up over the course of the entire season, bringing with it loads of festivities that in part have been absent in the past few years. And there will be lots of frenzy in each individual event, as well as in the progression between each event, which makes it sufficient to say that there will be a "marathon" of these events, one that will last until the very end of the season and persist in the hearts and minds of Trainers.
