Introducing Mega Legendary Raids

It is known that a number of Legendary (and by extension, Mythical) Pokémon have forms of Mega Evolution or something that is tantamount to that. It is also known that the primary way of challenging Mega Evolved forms and getting something in return that allows a Trainer's own Pokémon to Mega Evolve in Pokémon Go is through Mega Raids. Therefore, the Pokémon Go solution for the above Pokémon would have to be something that doesn't stray far from that. That solution is now presented in the form of Mega Legendary Raids.

Unlike regular Mega Raids, which are similar to a Level 5 Legendary Raid, Mega Legendary Raids are Level 6, opening up this new higher level for the first time. Unfortunately, it also means that these raids are and have to be harder than those of the lower level, and are therefore not included as Mega Raids that are easier. On the other hand, it should be expected that more can be gained out of these raids, and vastly more Mega Energy can be obtained (125-225, compared to 50-90 for regular Mega Raids) at the least, though other rewards appear to comprise a blend of those from the next lower level.

They're also presently available for a concurrent event that ends tomorrow. The event itself, as usual, will have to be explained later on, but the aspect explained in this post can be explained now. The currently available Mega Legendary Raids are simultaneously for the two Eon siblings of Latias and Latios, and they're an interesting duo, especially with their purple-bodied Mega Evolved forms (green, if they're Shiny). The raid CP of either one exceeds 80000 CP, and that should already be an indicator of how difficult they are; practically 6 or more Trainers are required, and those who can manage with 5 are gods.

While the rewards are sufficiently significant - primarily the Mega Energy, for which either takes 300 for breaking in the first one - the efforts to win have to be as well; this is a minor drawback for high-level Trainers and a major hurdle for lower-level ones. Further, the Shiny chance seems to be a bit difficult and the capture challenge is a bit constrained, more so than a regular Legendary Raid and similar to a regular Mega Raid; this may have to be improved upon in later editions, which is certain as there are more Legendary Pokémon that await to appear in raids for their chance at Mega Evolution.

At the least, now that the solution has been introduced and provided, Legendary Pokémon with Mega Evolution capabilities can now appear in Pokémon Go much like other Pokémon with Mega Evolution forms. Gaining access to those forms now also becomes possible, though massive efforts are undoubtedly required, just as massive as their respective Mega forms make them out to be. Once the obstacles are surmounted, Trainers can then have a Mega time with these supreme forms for some supreme Pokémon.
