Pokémon Go: Something Extraordinary

It's been a couple of years since I last reviewed a supplementary paid event for Pokémon Go, and since then, things have been a mixed bag, including this one. I actually debated for a bit whether to make a separate review for this one or to incorporate it into a rollup at the end of the month, but in the end, I decided to cover it separately because of two factors: its significant price and significant outcome. Even so, it does still have major links to an event that by now has finished up and will be covered accordingly as above, in a rollup to come later.

As much as it is significant, it is also extremely simple. The paid event consists of a Special Research set that is (or at this point, was) obtained Sunday yesterday or Saturday the day before by opening Pokémon Go on any of those days, certainly after having paid for the event. It has seven pages, and the main reward is an encounter with Keldeo in its Ordinary Form on the fifth page. This Pokémon, of course, is the "fourth complement" to the "musketeer trio" of the  fifth generation, and this event is essentially the "early access" for those who paid for it. Others can expect to obtain it at some point later on.

The paid event as I cover it here takes its title from the title of the Special Research set as above. The cost of the event is not overly significant, but it still may be so for some people; with Pokémon Go Tour: Hoenn imminent, they may choose instead to divert resources to that, instead of paying for this paid event. For me, though, I paid for the event not only for the purpose of covering it on this blog as I'm doing now, but also because it was somewhat of a necessity, as I could stand to pay for it without the usual overhead that accompanies paid events like this and certainly the upcoming Pokémon Go Tour.

Meanwhile, I have to say that for my own progress with the Special Research set, I'm actually stuck on the third page on the evolution task, as it is actually something I'm judicious about doing, with or without a task to prompt doing so. Still, some events ahead will help to make progress on this, so I'm not too concerned. Yet that's still a beauty of this paid Special Research, as it's not a Timed Research and can be completed whenever it's convenient. Though ideally I would have liked to at least get to Keldeo before making this review, it just couldn't happen, at least not without waiting for longer.

Supplementary paid events like this one have been hard to come by (similarly applying to their demand) for various reasons. For this current one, it's not hard to see why: Keldeo is a nice Pokémon to have and something that has been awaited by a good deal of people, but it may not necessarily be worth paying for it to have access to it so early. Nevertheless, for practical reasons, some people may just obtain it anyway in the sense that the paid event is by all means an "extraordinary" one, as the title of it does suggest.
