Well, with a Classic edition this month, Community Day might be in for a bit of a mix-up - but then, that's always the point of a Classic edition itself, to mix things up as the old and the new together. As for today, the mix-up is for a Pokémon species that could be said to mix itself up in order to attain new heights. That may sound a little familiar, so it's time to just get on with what it entails.
And the "tail end" of today is the Rock Head Pokémon, Bagon. Last seen in April 2019, this Pokémon returns for another go in this Classic edition. The bonuses are the same as explained way back when: Outrage as the exclusive move for Salamence, tripled XP for captures, and extended Lure Modules (as well as event Field Research, which I didn't mention but was a given way back when). Since the Shiny form was already introduced way back then, it's now certainly not a bonus, but it may still be one to those who hasn't gotten it.
Of course, there are and have been new and/or changed bonuses and features since that time. Incense also joins the extended club, there are photo bombs by the featured Pokémon, there are showcases and in-game shop bundles galore, and then there's an extra paid Special Research (here just titled "April 2024 Community Day Classic") that journeys through the developmental (or evolutionary) history of the species family. The time of execution is also different, from 2 to 5 PM instead of 3 to 6 PM way back when.
Then there's the matter of how this day turned out. In the same place as the previous (non-Classic) Community Day, I joined quite a few friends to catch as many Bagon as possible. Like way back when, I caught a lot of Shiny Bagon, with one of them even having very good stats, plus a regular one with perfect stats. The weather also slightly hindered some progressions, but it became clear that I and the others got over it for great results. These and a couple of others were evolved for future development as well as posterity.
It's been a mixed-up day for Community Day for me and possibly others, but as is evident, it may be a stepping stone to attain greater heights with what I (as well as) the others got today. Further mixing up of Community Day may depend on what what is offered for both the Classic and regular editions as well as where I go to deal with them, but the possibilities for new heights could always be apparent.
