As I mentioned in the coverage of the latest Pokémon Go tournament I participated in, everyone who participated obtained a prize just for participating. It might also be considered a token of appreciation as well, depending on whom one might ask. The prize is a simple thing, which is one of three keychains representing one of the three teams in the game. I personally received the keychain for Team Mystic, because that's my team. The other participants received keychains according to their respective teams as well.
The design of the images used for the keychains is unique. Though the actual team emblems are monochromatic (being of one color each, aside from the background), the images take a different approach: they use the actual Legendary Bird images rather than a representation of them. For Team Mystic, that would of course mean Articuno against a blue accent background. The images and therefore the keychain also include the team name in big, black letters. What goes for Team Mystic also goes for Team Valor and Instinct with their respective birds and colors.
I do have to note a bit of inconsistency here with the actual team emblems. It more concerns the images themselves and not the actual keychain. For Valor and Instinct, the accent colored shape is supposed to be a circle and a triangle respectively. With the depiction of the actual birds rather than representations, it would be appropriate to say that the images take a bit of artistic license. I'm not totally against it; these are rightfully a different style. It also should be noted that the images on the keychains are mirrored on the opposite side, except of course for the text.
These keychains are custom... because they are. The keychains come courtesy of one of my raid fellows, who also took part in the tournament and has at least some connections to the creation process for these keychains. It seems quite a few of my raid fellows have connections to such processes, including one that resulted in the Go Fest t-shirt replicas from March/April. They're enterprising souls, and I respect that. I hope to be as enterprising as they are, though not necessarily in the same way. As well, for now these keychains are all gone, but there may still be the possibility for a later re-production.
The conception of these keychains remains something neat. For those that competed in the tournament, they became a lovely reward for just participating. In general, the look and novelty of the keychains are great as well, even if they're custom-made. Whether as a small prize or a token of appreciation, there is really something to like about the keychains, which goes for tournament participants or anyone else lucky enough to receive them.
